We have a new private pilot!

Braden Bewley.... August 15, 2026

Our Newest Private Pilot — Braden Bewley!

I first met Braden last summer, on August 14, 2025. After learning about his interest in aerospace and aviation, I suggested that he come take a flight with Morning View Aviation. Two days later, on August 16, Braden took that first flight.

Before long, Braden decided he wanted to earn his Private Pilot Certificate—and set an ambitious goal of completing his training during his 2026 summer break from college.

That would require a demanding schedule, but Braden stepped up to the challenge. He began an intensive training schedule at the end of May and worked hard day after day. By mid-June, he had completed his first solo and continued progressing through cross-country flying, night operations, and the many other skills and requirements of the Private Pilot training program.

On August 15, 2026—almost one year to the day after that first flight—Braden successfully completed his checkride and became a Private Pilot!

Throughout his training, Braden demonstrated the knowledge, skill, judgment, and commitment to safety expected of a Private Pilot, culminating in demonstrating those abilities to an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner.

Way to go, Braden! Congratulations from your friends at Currituck (KONX) and the entire Morning View Aviation family!

                                 *****1st SOLO***** June 13, 2026 - Winds 280 @ 3 mph

A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS! to our newest solo goes out to Braden Bewley!

Braden solo’d in N5046A on June 13th, 2026. Runway 23 with winds 280 @ 3 kts.

Braden is a 2nd year in the Aerospace Engineering School at University of VA. His interest in aviation got sparked with a Discovery Flight last summer, 2025, before embarking on his collegiate journey at UVA. Once the bug set in, he contacted Morning View Aviation to figure out how feasible it would be to earn his Private Pilot Certificate during summer break. Braden is working very hard and studying, coming to lessons prepared, flying often, and he’s applying all the principals of required focus, and is well on track to earn his certificate this summer. Congratulations Braden!... Great work in the air and in the traffic pattern… let’s keep the focus and get through the next steps and accomplish this awesome feat!

N5046A - RW 23 KONX

Winds 140 @ 3 kts

A big CONGRATULATIONS! to our newest solo goes out to Erik Langenbacher!

Erik solo’d in N5046A on March 10, 2026. Runway 23 with winds 140 @ 3 kts.

Erik is a retired USCG, commercial, instrument rated, fixed wing pilot with rotorcraft commercial, instrument, and CFI ratings, mostly flying T-34, and MH-65’s. Erik came to Morning View Aviation to get back into general aviation after a 20-year gap of flying fixed wing, with the desire to continue use of his fixed wing ratings for personal use, taking trips, and enjoying time in the sky. Erik has excelled at recurrency training, and through consistent effort, we have been able to knock off the 20 years of rust, a little at a time, and uncover, and renew, a solid level of foundational skill and confidence. Congratulations Erik!... Great work in the air. Keep learning!
